Today Mr Ward showed us some different ways to join two or more pieces of pine wood.
- we learnt how to make a rebate joint, this joint increases the glueing area which would then make the pieces more sound:
- we then learnt how to do a simple joint called a butt joint, this was a simple joint that all you do is glue to flat surfaces together then hold it together with a nail.
- the final joint we learnt was a reinforced but joint, this was a triable nailed and glued onto a butt joint.

Reflection 5:
New topic:
Design Futures Year 10 Pre- Engineering Trebuchet Design:
Height: Is not to exceed 550mm
- energy can not be created but it can be transferred or transformed.
- the trebuchet transforms from stored gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy to air friction
EXAMPLES:
This is a photo of a Trebuchet with a sling.
Mr Wards:
Potential Energy (gravity) = m x g x h
= 3 x 9.8 x 0.4
= 11.76 Joules
