Df Reflection -7

Today was a very exciting day in Df,
This is because i started making my desk tidy in the work shop.
First i measured out 800 mm x 100 mm of white plastic this is my outer layer of my shelfs. Then i cut it out with the band saw, which was a little scary at first but then as i got half way into cutting i was not as scared any more.
Next lesson i will probably start the shelves and the base.

Df Reflection- 5

I have changed my mine AGAIN!!! I dont want to do the desk tidy on REFLECTION 4 anymore. I changed my mine because it is to simple and plane. I want to create something that looks unique but simple and very creative. Here are my thoughts........

I want to do something like this but without the little door on it. I want to do this because i don't need room for pencils and pens but for little things that don't fit anywhere else. And see how there is three layers to it( first layer is a shelve and the second two are draws). Well instead of having two lots of drawers i am only having one and replacing it with a shelve. To get a better picture of it here is my sketch of it with measurements...

Df Reflection-4

PLEASE REFER TO DF REFLECTION 1 FOR THIS NEXT BOG

Today i am trying to finish my ideation process. I have done the first step and now i am finishing the second step which is deciding my final desk tidy.
To do this i have to think which desk tidy out of the three i chose (these picture are on DF REFLECTION 1)
At first i wanted to do make number 2 Desk Tidy, but now i think i am going to chande to number 1 (THIS IS THE PICTURE BELOW)
I have decided to change because i reaslised that the first one was not suitable for my desk.

I will make a few changes to the desk tidy above, the main difference would be that i am going to add another pencil holder.

Df Reflection-2

Today in class Mr Ward taught us how to shape and join the plastic in order to make our desk tidies. Here is some things I learnt:

  • Polymers- we are using acrylic plastic.

  • acrylic tubing- there are three different sizes

  • there is PVC pipe

  • the glue we use is acrylic cement glue

  • the strip heater(used to bend the plastic in a strip.

  • the oven-heats the plastic so you can beng it in any shape.

  • use the bandsaw to cut the plastic - sand the edges after so it is smooth.

  • use a power drill to drill a hole into the plastic-use the spade bits

  • to drill always ues clamps

  • drill close to the clamp.

  • you can also use a drill press but Mr Ward preffers us to use the drill.

All of these picture i really like but if i had to say my favourite it would be number 2. But if i did number 2, under the box i would make a drawer.
