Reflection 9: finished product

Preparation for our oral:

Charlie and I worked really hard to make sure that our resort was finished in time for our speech. We managed to complete the project with just enough time to practise and rehearse for the oral. Over all we both used our time wisely in every lesson making sure we came to each class with a plan of what to do. For example in one of our lesson we decided that I would get the wind turbines made and Charlie would finish laying the snow and painting the turbines. This would happen every lesson to make sure that we weren't waisting time, but still having fun. By doing this Charlie and I didn't have to stress when the time came to write the oral because we new that our resort was organised and finished. (except for a few minor additions we had to make one lunch time)

Overall I really enjoyed making the resort and having the freedom to design our own thing!

Reflection 8: Term 2

This week we have had two lessons, Charlie and I have been working very hard to complete our project and we have planned our time very well. Last term we finished painting our project, making snow, making all the huts, making our wind turbines and making the train track. This term we have just finished off the last bits like painting the wind turbines, making a train for the train tracks and glueing more snow everywhere! On friday our last lesson for the week, we will finish or project by making trees to put around the resort.

How we made different items:

SNOW: grated the white styrofoam shapes

TRAIN TRACK: used red clay and hot glued it around the mountain, and finished it off with grey paint.

WIND TURBINES: used a very long thin round piece of wood and cut it into 3 shorter sticks then used masking tape to tape wire to the top. then folded the wire down to a 90 degree angle and put a little white fan on the end of the wire. This resulted in the fan being able to spin. Then we painted it white and sprinkled snow on the top.

HUTS: regular cardboard folded to make a cube than than we used a cardboard with a bumpy texture to make the roof and door than we painted  PVA glue on the top of the huts then dipped the huts in our fake snow to make it look like it just snowed.

TRAIN: For the train that went on our train track we just used cardboard to make a 3-D rectangle and painted it grey.

For the trees we are thinking about just using a cardboard cone and painting it green.
